  • The Bicycle Nova Scotia Mountain Bike Committee's long vacant seat for Trails / Land Access Coordinator has been filled in 2010 by the very capable and knowledgable Tom "Tommyboy" Kavanagh.  Tom is a busy man in the local cycling scene and has been for many years.
  • By now most of you have probably found the massive DH Racing in 2010 thread.  There is a lot of information packed in there, so I thought it prudent to point out some things that seem to be source to some confusion.  
  • 2010 is going to be a good year.   Two major initiatives have been launched in the past twelve months that are going to put trail building, maintenance and general awareness in the forefront of mountain bikers throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

 The Hillsborough Mountain Bike Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mountain biking, trail building, protecting land access and the maintenance of trails on which mountain bikers ride.
  • I recently had the opportunity to take a trip over to Seattle to check out their unique down town bike park. Under the I-5 highway is where you will find the Colonnade. This city park is approximately 7.5 acres in size and was created in 2005 with the first bike trails opening in 2007.
  • Calling All Mountain Bikers!!!  I am organizing Gorefest again for 2010.  I wanted to start this blog to keep everyone up to date to the progress of this year's event. I'm working on a lot of cool stuff to keep everyone going  for the whole weekend!
  • Hmm, you may have logged in this morning/night and are left sitting there wondering what is up with the change to the site? Well, we've introcduced a few new things. First of all, we've upgraded the foundation that the website is sitting on. Same vehicle, better version.
  • Last year the Trailblazer/Cogeyed Builder of the Month Awards were a great success.  This year we've made it better!!  Trailblazer has generously donated six prizes this year!!  That means we're giving away a prize once a month for six months. (March 2010 - August 2010)  
  • There have been many changes over the past year with ECMTB/Cogeyed.   We have changed names, changed our look, and changed some personel during this time. 
  • The ice race series is returning for 2010.  There will be 4 races with the first being held on Silver Lake in the valley.  So get your tires studded, and your warm clothes on.  Here's more info (sorry I couldn't get the image to copy!):
